The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Thursday, October 1 as public holiday to mark the nation’s 55th anniversary of independence.
This was announced in a statement on Monday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji.
In the statement signed by Yusuf Isiaka, Director of Press in the ministry, Alhaji Magaji congratulated Nigerians on the nation’s milestone achievement of staying united despite the many trying times it has passed through.
While calling on Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the stability and unity of the country, he urged them to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s plan to create a peaceful, united and virile nation.
