FCTA Health Secretary and Family Test Positive for Coronavirus

The Acting Health Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration Authority (FCTA), Dr. Mohammed Kawu has tested positive for Coronavirus alongside his family members.

The acting Heath Secretary confirmed his health status during a press conference at the Asokoro District Hospital where he is being isolated and treated.

He narrated that his ordeal began 12 days ago after he began to experience feverish conditions after which he reported at the isolation centre.

He thanked the frontline health workers for the treatment rendered to himself and his family so far and urged Nigerians to accept the reality and fatality of the Coronavirus.

“I want every Nigerian to know that this thing is real and anybody can be infected, especially those of us that are on the frontline.

“Coronavirus can be fatal and it is important that everyone follows all the extant guidelines of hand washing or sanitizing, maintaining social distance, wearing of facial covering and staying at home.”

He said further that the symptoms being exhibited by himself and his family members are moderate and not severe as he expressed hopes that they would be discharged soon.

“I had to be on intravenous (IV) drugs for about ten days. But I am stronger now, probably they will discharge me anytime soon.”
