FCT Minister Reacts Furiously To Massive Looting In Abuja

2 Min Read

Minister of FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has warned looters of COVID-19 palliatives and private warehouses to immediately return their loot or face arrest.

He spoke after an emergency security meeting on Monday.m, saying hoodlums were engaging in broad light stealing in the guise of EndSARS.

This followed Monday’s looting of a warehouse storing COVID-19 palliatives in the Gwagwalada area of Abuja.

The Herald reported earlier that looting started at the Idu Industrial Estate in Abuja on Saturday with videos showing hoodlums and residents carting away food and other items.

Even though security agents fired teargas to dispel the mammoth crowd, the looters were not deterred.

Videos of today’s incident showed looters boasting that the warehouse was so massive that it would take two days to empty its content.

Bello charged security agencies in the territory to go after the looters, apprehend and prosecute them.

However, he said any of the looters that immediately returned their loot would be spared.

Bello warned that security agents would be massively deployed to arrest fleeing looters in and around the factories at the Idu Industrial Layout.
