Obanikoro to Testify Against Fayose as EFCC Charges former Governor to Court

The immediate-past Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has reacted to the rumoured arrest of ex-Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In a tweet on Thursday, Fayose welcomed Okorocha to the “EFCC Alumni” and called for the arrest of immediate-past Governor of Ogun State, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun.

Recall that the EFCC arrested Fayose immediately after he left office in 2018.

Fayose was subsequently arraigned on 11 counts bordering on N6.9bn fraud by the anti-graft commission on October 22, 2018, alongside a company, Spotless Investment Ltd.

Reacting to the alleged arrest of Okorocha, Fayose said, “Just reading that Okorocha was arrested by EFCC.

“True or not, we knew this day will come.

“However, I welcome him to the EFCC Alumni & enjoin the commission not to look away from Amosun too.

“While I encourage them to surrender themselves as I did,I welcome Mr Okorocha to the club.”

However, the commission has denied arresting Okorocha, who contested for the Imo West senatorial district under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general election.

Reacting to the purported report of the arrest, EFCC’s acting Head, Media and Publicity, Tony Orilade, said, “It is fake news.”
