Following the seizure of the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose’s account with Zenith Bank by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in connection with suspected fraudulent and corrupt practices, the Ekiti State Governor in a statement released yesterday claimed his election was funded by Zenith Bank Plc, Public donations, returns from sale of souvenirs and other gifts from friends and associates.
However, the case has taken a huge turn as the management of the named financial institution, Zenith Bank Plc which Fayose claimed bankrolled his campaign two years ago has reportedly denied sponsorship of the Ekiti State Governor.
According to news agency, Sahara Reporter, Fayose’s attempt to clear his name of the alleged connection with former minster of Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, his sons and the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA has taken a nose dive.
The management of Zenith Bank Plc has however challenged the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose to publish his bank statement.
