The presidency has revealed the reason behind the decision to exclude the Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose from the team meeting with the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari in the United Kingdom.
Recall that the Ekiti state governor had severally taken swipes at the president over his health adding that he was being stage managed by the cabal within his administration who refused his wife, Aisha Buhari access to him.
The presidency while explaining its decision to not include Ayo Fayose on the list of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governors who visited that president at the Abuja house in London stated that it is not responsible for the selection of the governors who went on the visit to the ailing president.
Recall that a team of seven governors led by the Chairman of Governors Forum and Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari had been scheduled to meet with the president to have lunch.
Speaking on the non-inclusion of the Ekiti state governor, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina denied the presidency’s influence in the choice of governors picked for the visit.
Femi Adesina said: “The selection was by the governors forum and you will see that the delegation is headed by governor Yari who is chairman of that forum. So that question should go to the forum.”
He further maintained that the new delegates unlike the previous meeting which was made up of only the All Progressive Congress (APC) governors, were constituted of a more diverse platform hence the NGF.
Femi Adesina while speaking on why the president is yet to address Nigerians said: “It is a question of what he prefers and this is what he prefers for now. He would rather receive that delegation and that is what is happening. If the president opts for address option, he will do it.
“Instead of being curious, it should be the right time for the visit. When somebody has recovered or something has happened, it’s in our culture to visit such a person. So, this is the right time to visit the president because the news is that he is recovering and recovering well.”
