The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly Momoh Jimoh was on Monday involved in an accident that almost claimed his life.
According to reliable sources, the accident occurred beside Osara village on the Okene—Lokoja- Abuja highway while the Speaker was returning from the Christmas celebration.
The accident occurred when a heavy duty vehicle was said to have veered from its lane and crashed into the lawmaker’s convoy.
An eye witness account disclosed that the accident which occurred on Monday December 31 claimed the life of Lamidi Akeem, a police corporal who was attached to the convoy who died from various degrees of injuries sustained.
Reacting to this development, one of the legislators, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incident but called on all Nigerians to pray for political leaders in Kogi State saying, “Kogi is passing through a trauma.”
He said it was a thing of sadness and concern that another fatal accident occurred barely four days after Captain Idris Wada, the state governor’s convoy was also involved in an accident.
