The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders has stated its intent to drag the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) to court over their refusal to take action against former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola.
The ICPC had petitioned the EFCC severally concerning several corruption allegations against the former Governor who is a ministerial nominee who has been screened and confirmed.
Speaking to Punch, CACOL boss, Debo Adeniran said “We are concluding plans to take the EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission to court. We will file an order of mandamus to compel them to investigate Fashola if they have not investigated him. They should make their findings public and ensure that they prosecute him depending on the outcome of their investigation.”
Adeniran also lambasted the Buhari administration for merely paying lip service to corruption.
He said, “We do not think the system has changed. It is just the regime that changed from one party to the other. Power has changed from one corrupt administration to another.”
