Fani-Kayode Recalls MKO Abiola’s Last Moments, Names Americans Involved

2 Min Read

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has recalled the last moments of acclaimed winner of the 1993 presidential elections, Chief MKO Abiola.

Abiola died of heart attack in detention on July 7, 1998, during the struggle to reclaim his mandate.

However, according to Fani-Kayode, the billionaire businessman collapsed 20 minutes after drinking tea made and served by former US Ambassador to Nigeria, Thomas Pickering and Assistant Secretary of State for Africa to President Bill Clinton, Susan Rice.

Fani-Kayode said this after watching Pickering condemn on a BBC Television programme, a nerve agent attack on a former Russian spy and his daughter in the UK.

Russian former spy Sergei Skripal , 66, and daughter Yulia Skripal, 33, remain critically ill in hospital 11 days after they were found unconscious on a bench in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

They had been poisoned with a nerve agent of a type developed by Russia called Novichok, the UK government said.

However, Russia has denied any involvement.

In a series of tweets on his verified personal Twitter handle, Fani-Kayode said, “I saw America’s former Ambassador to Nigeria, Thomas Pickering, on @BBCWorld_Tv. He spoke on the poisoning of the Russian spy in the UK which he claims Putin ordered. He and Obama’s National Security Advisor, Susan Rice, who at the time was Bill Clinton’s Assistant Secretary of State for Africa, were…1/2

“…the duo that MADE and GAVE Chief MKO Abiola (the winner of Nigeria’s June 12th 1993 presidential election) tea in 1998 when they went to see him in detention. 20 minutes later, right in front of them, Abiola dropped dead!

Can Pickering tell us what he and Rice put in the tea?”
