Former minister of aviation, Fani Kayode has reacted to the arrest, prosecution and conviction of actress Funke Akindele for organizing a party amid lockdown.
Speaking via his official Twitter handle, he said a warning should have been handed to her especially after publicly apologizing for her actions,
He tweeted: “The prosecution & conviction of Funke Akindele was overbearing & unnecessary. A warning would have been enough. This is especially so after she publicly expressed remorse. The court was crowded. Why don’t they prosecute those that were there as well, including the Magistrate?”
Funke Akindele Bello pleaded guilty to the charge of violating the social distancing directive after hosting a birthday party for her husband with more than 20 people in attendance.
The actress and her husband were arraigned Monday morning at an Ogba Magistrate court in Lagos state
Moyo Onigbanjo (SAN), Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice who was the prosecutor accused Funke Akindele and her husband of disobeying the social distancing directive which forbids a gathering of more than 20 people
Mrs Akindele-Bello and her husband pleaded guilty to the one-count charge.

The couple was later sentenced to 14 days community service as well as a fine of N100k each.
