Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has expressed sadness at the death of former United States President, George Herbert Walker Bush, who died Friday at 94.

Fani-Kayode’s condolence message came via a tweet from his verified Twitter handle on Saturday morning.

Bush, the 41st US President, died on Friday.

“George Herbert Walker Bush, World War II naval aviator, Texas oil pioneer, and 41st President of the United States of America, died on November 30, 2018. He was 94 and is survived by his five children and their spouses, 17 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two siblings,” the former president’s office said in a statement.

“He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Barbara; his second child Pauline “Robin” Bush; and his brothers Prescott and William or “Bucky” Bush.”

Reacting, Fani-Kayode described the late Bush as a “profoundly good man and a gentle and compassionate president”.

The ex-minister said, “May the beautiful soul of President George H. Bush, the former President of the United States of America and father of President George W. Bush, rest in peace. He was a profoundly good man and a gentle and compassionate President who hailed from an illustrious and noble lineage.”
