Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State says former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He made the assertion contrary to Fani-Kayode’s claim that he remained a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Recall that Fani-Kayode on Monday held a controversial meeting with Bello and Chairman of APC Caretaker Committe, Mai Mala Buni.
The ex-minister later explained that the aim of the meeting was to “build bridges” in national interest and not for defection.

However, Bello countered the claim in a video shot during an APC event in Kogi and shared on Wednesday.
He said Fani-Kayode’s defection was one of his achievements as the chairman of the APC Women and Youth Sensitisation and Mobilisation Committee for the membership registration and revalidation exercise.
“Our brother and friend, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has joined our party in good faith. He is joining our party to come and add his own positive energy and make contributions to ensuring that APC is a party to beat.
“Remember, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode is a foundation member of the All Progressives Congress… Now he has decided to join our party, approched me and by the mandate giving to me by our party, I must not segregate,” Bello said.
Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo confirmed that the governor spoke the truth.
