Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted angrily to Wednesday’s arrest of the Rivers State Commissioner of Education, Hon. Dr. Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja by soldiers.
According to the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the commissioner, his family members and the State Co-coordinator of Arise Nigeria, Hon. Benjamin Diri, who were allegedly arrested by the Nigerian Army 6 Division, Port Harcourt.
Reacting to the arrest via his verified Twitter handle on Friday, Fani-Kayode described it as “utterly shameful”.
He said, “The invasion of the home and arrest of the Rivers State Commissioner of Education by soldiers led by one Major Mustapha is utterly shameful. I watched the video and I am outraged.
“I gather that this is what is going on all over Rivers state and that many PDP leaders have been arrested by security agents whilst others have been brutalised and killed.
“This is unacceptable.I join millions of other Nigerians in condemning it.
“Using soldiers to intimidate and terrorise the oppostion in Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Kaduna and elsewhere due to elections is barbaric.”
