Fani-Kayode Cautions Gumi

Femi Fani-Kayode, a Nigerian politician and former Minister of Aviation has cautioned popular Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, against inciting religious and ethnic wars in Nigeria following his recent sermon, The Herald reports.

FFK also urged the Tinubu-led Federal Government to call Gumi to order over his comment, which he termed provocative and inciting.

The Herald reports that Fani-Kayode sounded the note of caution in a two and a half pages article published on Sunday, where he also lauded Northern elders for disowning Gumi after his threats.

The popular cleric had during a recent sermon said Nigeria can’t afford to entrust the responsibility of securing the country to Christians.

He also noted that President Bola Tinubu shouldn’t remain in power for a second tenure if he failed to meet specific demands.

Prior to this, Gumi had called for the removal of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, after accusing him of planning to transform Abuja into Tel Aviv

His comment came after the former Rivers State governor met with an Israeli envoy in Abuja and discussed issues relating to security in Abuja.

Reacting to Gumi’s comments via the article, Fani-Kayode called on the Federal Government to caution Gumi, he said; “Whichever way you view him, one thing is clear: Gumi is trying to ignite a religious and ethnic war in Nigeria and someone needs to call him to order before it is too late.”

Fani-Kayode went on to commend the Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, among others, for putting Gumi in his place.
