Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has backed Senator Orji Kalu and Senator Sani Musa to emerge president and deputy president of the 10th Senate.
Fani-Kayode, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, said that the Nigerian Senate would be safe in the hands of the duo.
In March, Kalu, who is the Abia North senator-elect and current Senate Chief Whip, declared that it was his turn to be Senate President, and urged the ruling APC to zone the senate presidency to the South-East geopolitical zone.
Barely two weeks after, a group known as the APC Integrity Group endorsed Senator Musa, who is senator-elect for Niger North, for the deputy senate presidency, citing his competence and the need to reward the North-Central geopolitical zone.
Justifying his stance on Kalu and Musa, Fani-Kayode said, “Their loyalty to our great party the APC and to our leader and President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is unambiguous, total and second to none and they are both seasoned, brilliant, courageous, tough, wise and experienced public officers.”
He added that the duo would make an “extraordinary combination” as Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively.
“This would be innovative and refreshing,” he stated.
“Under their leadership the opposition parties would have sleepless nights, the Senate would be strong, bold and reliable, the APC would flourish and go from strength to strength and the Nigerian people would be the better for it.
“I wish them well in this race and they have not only my support but that of millions of other party leaders and supporters,” Fani-Kayode added.
