A family of four has been killed in an overnight fire in their home in the Bariga area of Lagos.
The victims’ home is located at No. 13, Buraimoh Street, Bariga, Lagos.
Identified simply as the Eze family, Mr and Mrs Eze and their children aged five and eight died in the fire that began around 2.48am, the News Agency of Nigeria quoted Rasaq Fadipe, the Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, as saying.
The fire boss said that the fire service responded as soon as it was notified of the incident.
However, Fadipe disclosed that the men of the service were unable to reach the victims on time because of the double burglary irons on the doors of the apartment, which he said is a chemist shop.
He advised against constructing burglaries that can endanger home occupants, adding that occupants should know the exits in a building in case of emergency.
The cause of the fire remains unclear.
