The ripples generated by the kidnapping of Chief Olu Falae may soon finally be laid to rest as six suspects are said to have been picked by the Nigeria Police in connection with the kidnapping.
Although information available is still sketchy, it was said that the suspects were picked up following a tip-off concerning their identities as being in the gang that kidnapped the former Secretary to the Federal Government from his farm in Ondo state in September.
The suspects were said to have been picked up in Ekiti, Ondo and Niger States, Vanguard reports.
It will be recalled that elders of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, of which Chief Falae is a member, after an emergency security meeting on Thursday threatened to resist further Fulani herdsmen’s nomadic cattle-rearing activities in the south west geopolitical zone if their excesses were not checked.
It is not yet clear whether the suspects arrested were Fulani herdsmen or not, considering that the police said that Chief Falae was kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
We will bring you information concerning the case as it unfolds.
