An Abuja-based man, Sidney Osahon has emerged winner of the ‘Give n Take’ national lottery held in the Federal Capital Territory.
The winner, a software engineer, was facing eviction from his home when he won the N20 million prize with a N100 stake.
According to The Nation, Osahon said he had been playing the lottery for a while before winning the money.
He said on the day he won the prize, his landlady had sent a text message threatening a showdown with him later in the day if he didn’t pay up his rent.
He said before his win, his mother had suggested selling a parcel of land she owned so he could use a portion of the proceed from the sale to offset his rent.
“But I felt that was not a progressive thing to do,” Osahon said. “So I prayed to God that am tired of paying rent and that I would like to move into my own house, and God did it for me. I am now a landlord.”
The N20m prize is said to be the highest lottery win in the country.
