Users of Facebook for iPhone in Australia and New Zealand reported briefly seeing a feature called ‘Local Market’, an online community for buying and selling of products and services, before it disappeared.
According to tech blog TechCrunch, a Facebook spokesperson confirmed that the company was test-running the feature which is expected to be rolled out later in the future.
The Local Market was said to have come with a “Buy” and “Sell” feature as well as a way to search across the marketplace for particular items using keywords. Items available for sale are categorized, and include photos and prices, TechCrunch reported.
The feature when rolled out is expected to serve as a more-structured market place, where users can buy and sell different categories of products and services ranging from autos, appliances, furniture, clothing, household, books and so on.
