F.G poised to satisfy housing needs of civil servants – minister

The Minister for State, Power, Works and Housing, Mr Suleiman Hassan, said on Monday that the Federal Government intended constructing more houses across the country to satisfy the accommodation needs of civil servants.

The minister stated this while inspecting 80 units of houses in Bauchi, being constructed by the Federal Government.

He said that the Federal Government was committed to completing all on-going housing projects, adding that his ministry was poised to fulfill promises made as soon as funds were made available.

Hassan said that the inspection was to assess the level and quality of work carried out by the various contractors handling the project in Bauchi.

The minister expressed satisfaction with the quality of job, promising that payment would be made to ensure speedy completion of the project.

“I have inspected the project and the assessment is that I have seen quality job; I can say that some people have the same vision with our president because of the quality job done in the site.

“The Federal Governmwnt is committed to ensuring the success of housing project to reduce the deficit in housing across all states,’’ he said.

In his remarks, spokesman of the contractors handling the project Mr Jamilu Mai-Auduga, appealed to the minister to ensure prompt payment of contractors.

Mai-Auduga appreciated the support and cordial relationship that existed between the contractors and supervisors.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that construction of the 80 houses, comprising One, Two and Three Bedroom flats, is being handled by 20 contractors. (NAN)
