Ex-Minister Musiliu Obanikoro Dares FG

Following the raid by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro’s homes in Lagos leading to the seizure of cars, watches and other properties, the former Minister has dared the Federal Government to extradite him from the United States where he currently is with his sons, Jide and Gbolahan.

The former minister took to his social media account on Twitter, tweeting via @MObanikoro yesterday to express his opinion on the ongoing victimisation meted on him by the EFCC.

He said he was unaware of any pending legal case against him while he held different ministerial appointments under the former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. He added that the accusations levelled against him by the agency, EFCC, was aimed to victimise him based on his political affiliation.

He continued that the move by the government to extradite him from the US would not work as the case would not stand before a decent legal inquiry. He said: “Rumours of extradition are also lies – false allegations cannot stand up to any decent legal inquiry in a civilised system such as in the U.S,”

Obanikoro also disclosed that the witch-hunt the EFCC had embarked upon is nothing but a calculated attempt by the Federal Government to divert the focus of Nigerians away from what he described as “abysmal and ignominious economic records” of Mr. Buhari.

He continued: “This is a government determined to outdo the abysmal and ignominious economic records of Dec. 31, 1983 to August 27, 1985 that ended in shame”.
