A former Minister of Internal Affairs, John Shagaya, has died in an auto crash in Plateau.
The accident occurred as he made his way from Langtang to Jos on Sunday, reports said.
The crash reportedly occurred after the front tyres of the vehicle he was travelling in suddenly burst.
Before his death, Shagaya, who was a minister under the administration of Ibrahim Babangida, was the Chairman, Governing Board, National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.
He was a former senator who represented Plateau South senatorial district in the National Assembly.
The 75-year-old retired general was also at a time the ECOMOG Peace Keeping Commander.
The former minister’s corpse has been deposited in a mortuary.
Shagaya’ s childhood friend , Gen . John Temlong, confirmed the incident, The Punch reported.
