The men of the Nigerian Police Force have apprehended the son of a former Governor of Kogi State, Abubakar Mohammed Audu on charges of armed robbery.
Following the arrest of the former Governor’s eldest son, Mohammed, his appearance in court caused a mild drama as people could not believe their sight.
Mohammed was arraigned before the Chief Magistrates’ Court 11, Lokoja, Kogi State on Thursday following his arrest on Wednesday night when he accepted an invite from the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad at the “A” Division Office of the Nigeria Police Force in Lokoja.
Mohammed was also charged with criminal conspiracy, causing mischief and grievous hurt as well as attempted
culpable homicide, all charges present in the First Information Report filed by the police.
Mohammed’s charges were in clear violation of the sections 97 (1), 248, 327, 298 and 229 of the Penal Code.
The court, presided over by the Chief Magistrate, Alhassan Hussain however following the arguments from the defending and opposing counsel admitted Mohammed to bail.
The Judge further directed that Mohammed must be available for every court session.
The court adjourned till September 29, 2016 for further proceedings in the matter.
