Everything Is Wrong With Nigeria- Sokoto State Governor

2 Min Read

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has stated that he believes that everything is wrong with Nigeria and political leaders should stop pretending as if all is well.

The Governor was speaking on the recent issue with security in the nation

He said: “Everything is wrong with our nation and we must as a matter of urgency rise to the challenges.”

He believes that the state governors should have more power to protect their states, something they do not have the jurisdiction to do at the moment.

“Whether we like it or not there is seeming justification for state police and there is seeming justification for state government to have some measures of control over security personnel. You call police Commissioner and that call is ignored is unfortunate and unacceptable,” he said

He added “Because providing security rely squarely on government, particularly, federal government. We must call a spade by its name. The President has to do the needful. We have qualified people who can bring fresh ideas,”

The Governor has been on the forefront of calls for individual state police which would enable the state government more control on the protection of the states and Tambuwal is of the opinion that the current spate of killings in the country is just further evidence that the country needs state police to keep the populace safe.
