Everton are nearing a two-year deal for striker Samuel Eto’o after he was released by Chelsea at the end of the season.
Talks are still ongoing but the Merceyside team are likely to sign Eto’o in time for him to make his debut against Chelsea at Goodison park on Saturday.
Eto’o also attracted interest from Liverpool during this transfer window but the 4-time African Footballer of the year’s deal would have only gone through if Liverpool had failed to sign Mario Balotelli.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez is eager to bring in another striker before Monday’s transfer deadline as Everton has little back-up for £28m record signing Romelu Lukaku with Arouna Kone out injured still recovering from a knee problem
