Everton Complete Stunning Transfer Window With Mina And Gomes Signings

2 Min Read

Everton football club have been undergoing a massive overhaul over the last couple of years and this Summer’s transfer window might just be their most successful yet.

Last season, the Merseysiders brought in a whopping 11 players including Wayne Rooney, Gylfi Sigurðsson and Jordan Pickford.

This season has been just as productive, with Everton bringing in 5 new players, but it is the quality of the signings is what will make fans excited.

The Blue side of Merseyside brought in 3 players from Barcelona including Andre Gomes, Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne.

Mina had been in the transfer news a lot, with many thinking he would go to Manchester United until that move broke down and he finally went to Everton.

The Toffees will pay Barca an initial €30.25m (£27m/$35m), plus potentially another €1.5m in variables for Colombian defender Mina who joined Barcelona in January from Palmeiras and went on to play only 5 times in the league for the Spanish team.

He had a stellar World Cup, scoring 3 goals in Columbia’s run to the Second Round of the World Cup and it was thought he would not be short of suitors, but his summer has been a largely frustrating one before he made the Everton move.

The Catalan side also have a buy-back clause for the 23-year-old Mina who they hope can develop and can perhaps be brought back.

Everton also loaned Andre Gomes from Barcelona forking out €2.25m for the talented midfielder who Barcelona bought for  €35 million (£31m/$41m) from Valencia.

The midfielder also struggled for form at the Camp Nou and revealed that after his first six months, things became hellish for him.

Along with tricky winger Bernard and promising talent, Richarlison, Everton can be said to have had their most successful transfer window in ages and look set to try and upset the set up of the Premier League.
