The Agege Stadium in Lagos will on Thursday host former professional football players in Africa, who will be participating in a match to honour the outgoing state governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.
The match, which will come on on May 18, 2019 by 10 am, will feature the now President of Liberia, George Weah, Samuel Eto’o (Cameroon), Didier Drogba (Côte d’Ivoire), Diomansy Kamara (Senegal) and Michael Essien (Ghana).

Former Super Eagles players to feature in the match include Peter Rufai, Finidi George, Mutiu Adepoju, Joseph Yobo, Kanu Nwankwo, Jay-Jay Okocha, Daniel Amokachi and Phillip Shuaibu, who is now the Edo State Deputy Governor.
In a statement on Thursday signed by the Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr Kweku Tandoh, the event, tagged, ‘Match for Ambode’, was to honour the governor for his “laudable contributions to sports development in Lagos.”
According to Tandoh, the match will also feature performances from artistes such as Wizkid and Small Doctor.
