Watford ended their four-game losing streak in the Barclays Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Newcastle at Vicarage Road. Odion Ighalo scored the opening goal of the game less than a minute into the second half before Craig Cathcart doubled the home side’s lead shortly before the 60th minute.
Jamaal Lascelles pulled one back for Newcastle, but the defeat sees Steve McClaren’s side remain in the relegation places while Watford move up to 10th.
In the early kick-off today, Liverpool defeated Norwich City 5-4 in an absolute showpiece, a thrilling contest that saw several lead changes and two goals in the final minutes. Sebastien Bassong thought he had earned a point for the Norwich City when he tied things up in the 90th minute, but Adam Lallana blasted home from inside the box to seal off a crazy game.
Elsewhere, Jamie Vardy got back on the score-sheet for Leicester City, guiding the Foxes to a 3-0 win over Stoke City and to the top of the standings in the process. The goal is Vardy’s 16th in this campaign as he tops the scoring chart.
The Red Devils conceded a last-minute goal to lose 1-0 to Southampton and now trail Spurs by five points in the table. Southampton didn’t create many chances of their own, but Charlie Austin managed to score in the final minutes.
Tottenham Hotspur battled back to grab a 3-1 win over Crysta, while Sunderland and Bournemouth shared the points, as did West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will play Arsenal on Sunday in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
