EPL: Jackson isn’t scoring enough goals – Obi Mikel urges Chelsea to make two signings

2 Min Read

Former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has advised his former club to strengthen their attack by signing either Victor Osimhen or Viktor Gyokeres during the January transfer window.

Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, Mikel expressed concerns over the goal-scoring struggles of Chelsea’s current striker, Nicolas Jackson. He emphasized the need for a more clinical forward to help the team contend for the Premier League title.

“We are creating chances and playing well, but we are not clinical enough. We’re not scoring goals,” Mikel stated.

He criticized Jackson’s recent performances, saying:
“We’ve discussed bringing in a top striker who can help win tough games. If Jackson isn’t firing, we need someone else to step in and score. He gets into good positions but isn’t finishing them. He’s not scoring enough goals.”

The former Super Eagles captain highlighted the potential impact of bringing in Osimhen or Gyokeres.
“If we had Victor Osimhen or Viktor Gyokeres, trust me, we’d still be competing for the Premier League,” Mikel said.

Jackson, a 23-year-old Senegalese striker, has scored nine Premier League goals this season but has struggled for form, managing just one goal in his last six appearances.

Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been linked with a move to Chelsea. Viktor Gyokeres, who plays for Sporting CP, is reportedly also attracting interest from Manchester United.
