Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, has challenged his team to step up their performances after securing a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
The Red Devils initially took the lead through Lisandro Martinez’s powerful strike, but Liverpool, currently topping the Premier League table, responded with goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah. United salvaged a point late in the game when Amad Diallo tapped in Alejandro Garnacho’s low cross.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Amorim expressed mixed feelings about the result, emphasizing the need for a better all-round display.
“I want to see my team play so much better, but I think the most important thing to address today is the mentality,” Amorim said. “That is the key for everything. Today we were a different team, not because of the system, not because of the technical aspect of the game [or] the tactical aspect of the game.”
Amorim stressed the importance of consistency and focus, saying, “We need to face every competition, every opponent, and every day—whether in training or matches—with the same intensity.”
Despite the draw, United remains under pressure to improve their form as they continue to fight for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
