English Premier League Round-Up, Arsenal win at Last, Leicester March On

2 Min Read

It’s been another exciting week in the English Premier League. Today was match day 31 which means there are 7 games left in the season. With another International break looming, matches today carried extra weight with a win meaning teams can go into the international break with the feeling of pride and renewed confidence. A defeat and the team has almost two weeks to dwell on such defeat.

The first game of the day featured Everton taking on Arsenal. The gunners had been without a league win since Feb 14th and had just suffered consecutive cup exits at the hands of Watford and Barcelona. The gunners ran out 2-0 winners with goals from Danny Welbeck and Nigerian sensation Alex Iwobi.

Elsewhere, surprise league leaders Leicester took on Crystal Palace. The game was settled 1-0 in favour of Leicester courtesy of a Riyad Mahrez goal. The Foxes have taken to closing out games 1-0 in recent times and it is still serving them well.

Chelsea v West Ham ended 2-2 with Chelsea getting a controversial penalty when Loftus Cheek seemed to trip over his own feet and was inexplicably given a penalty. Fabregas made no mistake from the spot to draw the game level.

Idion Ighalo’s Watford lost 2-1 to Stoke City, Norwich went to the Hawthorns and prevailed against West Brom 1-0, a Robbie Brady goal the difference between the two sides.

Tomorrow promises to be big with 2 derbies on display. First off is the Tyneside derby with Sunderland taking on bitter rivals Newcastle. Later in the day is the big one; Manchester City v Manchester United. Somewhere in there Tottenham will take on Bournemouth.

Leicester sits pretty on top eight points ahead of second placed Tottenham and eleven points ahead of Arsenal who are in third place. The Foxes are well poised for a history making title if they can keep up their form.
