The North-East Governors Forum has described as “mind-boggling” the destruction that trailed the #EndSARS protests in Lagos.
Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum stated this while representing his colleagues from the zone on a visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Saturday.
Zulum was accompanied on the visit by his predecessor and Senator for Borno Central, Kashim Shettima.
The Borno governor, who went through images of the destruction that trailed the hijacking of the protests by hoodlums in the state, said that Lagos alone could not bear the cost of replacing damaged infrastructure.
He said that the cost of rebuilding the state would bring untold discomfort to residents and citizens doing business in Lagos.

“We are here on behalf of Governors from the entire Northeast region and its people to commiserate with the people of Lagos and their Governor over the recent unfortunate incident of violence that happened in Lagos, which left wanton destruction of both the public and private properties.
“While we strongly condemn any form of brutality by the police in any part of the country, we also condemn what has happened in Lagos. The destruction was engineered to hurt this blooming state and its economy.
“We condemn the excesses of the youths who took to violence to express their grievances.
“There was no need for the violence when the authorities had already conceded to their demands,” the Borno governor said.
He appealed to young people across the country to adopt peaceful ways of airing their grievances, comparing the destruction in Lagos to the scale wreaked by Boko Haram in Borno.
