The Lagos State Government has shut down all schools in the state indefinitely.
This, it said, was in response to the EndSARS protests.
Lagod State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, issued the directive on Monday.
The directive was contained in a statement signed by Head of Public Affairs of the ministry, Kayode Abayomi.
Adefisayo said that the decision was taken following following the tension generated by the anti-SARS protests.
The commissioner added that the “safety of the pupils/students, parents and all staff working in schools is paramount at this critical period”.
She however advised parents to keep an eye on their wards and not allow them to be used as willing tools in the hands of those who might want to hijack the protests to unleash mayhem on the society.
Adefisayo encouraged schools to utilise other means of distance teaching and learning i.e radio, television and online media as they have been doing during and post the recent COVID-19 lockdown.
According to her, a new date of resumption for all classes will be announced as soon as possible.
The Herald earlier reported that hoodlums in the guise of EndSARS protesters attacked policemen in Yaba area of Lagos.
The hoodlums hurled stones and other objects at the policemen who fled from the scene.
