Japanese automaker, Toyota Motor Corporation said it sold 9.21 million vehicles within its group between January-November, which takes its sales above Volkswagen’s for the fifth month in a row.
Volkswagen had announced sales of 9.10 million in the same period.
The announcement on Friday keeps Toyota on track to become the world’s top-selling automaker in 2015.
Toyota had continuously outsold Volkswagen on a year-to-date basis since July.
The German automaker said its brand sales fell 2.2 percent year-on-year in November, which further extended its slide since October, the first full month after it was hit with an emissions scandal in about 11 million of its diesel vehicles.
