2 Min Read

Leader of Arewa Youth Organizations, Murtala Abubakar, has blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for the dethronement of Emir Muhammad Sanusi II by the Kano state government.

Abubakar also blamed northern elders for not intervening in the feud between the former Emir and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

On its part, the Arewa Consultative Forum called for calm and understanding over the removal of the Emir of Kano,  Muhammadu Sanusi II.
The ACF National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim made the appeal in a statement made available to News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Kaduna.
Ibrahim said the ACF  had earlier intervened in the feud between the Kano State Government and Kano Emirate Council in its efforts to ensure amicable resolution of the issues between them.
He, however, said with the turn of events, ACF has no alternative than to call on the people of Kano Emirate to remain calm and show understanding of the situation.
Earlier, The Herald reported that Governor Ganduje of Kano state has dethroned the Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II over offences described as disrespect to the office of the governor and other government agencies.Announcing the dethronement of the first class monarch, the secretary to the state government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji said the removal was with immediate effect.

According to the government of Kano state, the removal of Sanusi was done with the consent of relevant stakeholders in the ancient City.

The state government urged the people of Kano to stay calm and go about their normal business as a replacement for the Emir will be announced soon.

Sanusi and Governor Ganduje of Kano have been at loggerheads in the state for quite a while. The situation between both core Northern personalities was seen as the catalyst for the division of Kano into four distinct emirates.
