My dethronement letter was poorly-written – Sanusi mocks Ganduje’s govt

Deposed Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II says he could easily upturn his dethronement in court based on the way the Kano State Government conveyed the message in its letter to him.

Sanusi, who is presently in Lagos, disclosed this in a short video that circulated on social media on Saturday.

However, he said he would not be challenging his removal in court.

Recall that the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje administration deposed Sanusi, the 14th Emir of Kano, last Monday. He was immediately replaced with Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, the son of his predecessor.

But in the video, the deposed monarch, who was installed in 2014, said Ganduje’s administration did not give him fair hearing before taking a decision on his removal.

He said, “I have done what I could in six years. I’m moving on. I don’t want to go back. The truth is: if I had wanted to go back, the dethronement letter was so badly written, it was not done professionally. The easiest thing is just to go to court.”

“It’s simple… fair hearing. ‘Did you query him? Did you ask him to defend himself? Did you even call him to ask him any question?’ No. That’s all but I think we should go on to a new phase in life.”

Before relocating to Lagos on Thursday, the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor stayed briefly in Loko town in Nasarawa LGA and then Awe LGA, both in Nasarawa State.
