Fagbohun, in a statement on Friday in Lagos, said it had become necessary for every staff to constantly deepen their competencies through technology because the COVID-19 pandemic had changed the face of knowledge acquisition.

“You can not be complacent with being knowledgeable in one field. The world today is such that you must be able to acquire knowledge in as many fields as possible.

“We will be holding virtual training sessions for ourselves, accessible to both academic and non-academic members of staff.

“The first virtual training for members of staff will hold on Monday, April 27,” Fagbohun said.

He directed Deans of faculties to come up with weekly training sessions for all members of staff in their faculties to deepen knowledge and share information of value.

Fagbohun also expressed satisfaction at the university’s performance in the global ranking, but added that there were still much to be done.

“The latest Times Higher Education Impact Ranking for 2020 has been released and the Lagos State University has been ranked among the first 600 universities globally.

“Participating in that ranking is to put ourselves on our toes, to know where we need to improve and we must target to be in the first 200 band at the next ranking.

“I appreciate Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, Directorate of Research Management and Innovation, and his team for putting together the submission that earned LASU the ranking,”he said.
