The election of a member of the House of Representatives, Obinna Onwubuariri, representing Isiala Mbano/Onuimo/Okigwe federal constituency of Imo state, has been cancelled.
The cancellation of Onwubuariri’s election was affected by the National Assembly elections petitions tribunal in Owerri, the state capital, PM News reports. According to the ruling delivered by the chairman of the panel, R. Harriman, a rerun election is to be conducted in the constituency by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This came after the petitioner, Princess Miriam Onuoha of the All Progressives Congress (APC), claimed before the tribunal that the annulled election was fraught with over-voting, mutilation of figures, and the reduction of her votes.
The tribunal ordered INEC to conduct supplementary elections in four Polling Units in the Binji Constituency of the State House of Assembly.
It was gathered that the affected polling units are: Rumfar Marina and Kusa Da Garkar Magaji Margai in Maikulki ward, Shiyyar Sarkin Aski in Binji ward and Tumunin Magaji in Soron Gaba’s ward.
