The Oyo state National and state house of Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal has upheld the election victory of PDP candidate, Senator Kola Balogun of Oyo South senatorial district after it was petitioned by former Gov Ajimobi, candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
The Tribunal dismissed Ajimobi’s petition on the basis of lack of merit and inability of the petitioner to convince the jury that the election was indeed induced.
Justice Anthony Akpovi therefore upheld the February 23 election victory of Senator Kola Balogun of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and he remains the rightfully elected candidate for the Oyo South senatorial district.
Senator Kola Balogun who was overwhelmed with Joy described his victory, as victory for democracy.
In Balogun’s words “I give thanks to God Almighty. What an erudite judgement! That means there is hope for the common man. It is victory for democracy.”
He added “The election was revolutionary. People voted against recklessness, abuse of power and the government running away from the norm of good governance. If Ajimobi wants to continue to combat against Lord, let him continue.”
