El-Rufai, Wike, Oyetola, others make Tinubu’s ministerial list

1 Min Read

Immediate-past Governors of Kaduna, Rivers and Osun, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Nyesom Wike and Adegboyega Oyetola respectively, are leading names on the ministerial list submitted by President Bola Tinubu to the Senate for screening, The Nation reports.

The report quoted an unnamed Senate source as saying that the president forwarded the list to President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio on Thursday morning.

Also on the ministerial list is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Lateef Fagbemi; Global Director, Health, Nutrition and Population (HNP) Global Practice of the World Bank, Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate; and Special Adviser on Media, Strategy and Special Duties to the President, Dele Alake.

The list also has former Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River, Senator Ben Ayade, and All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader, Mrs. Betta Edu.

The ministerial list is said to reflect the national character and outlook of the president and the ruling party and is a blend of politicians and technocrats.

However, it was not immediately clear if the list had portfolios attached.

Tinubu’s submission of the list is in line with the constitutional provision that the list must reach the National Assembly within 60 days after the president’s inauguration.
