The governor of Kaduna State Nasir El-Rufai has donated an undisclosed amount to the man who was stabbed in Kaduna state for not fasting.
A few days ago it was reported that the man, Francis Emmanuel Olokpo, 41, while trying to have lunch at a restaurant in Kaduna was descended upon by some people accusing him of not fasting during Ramadan.
The man survived but was gravely injured. He was visited by the governor who was appalled by the situation and promised to get to the root of the matter.
The governor who was represented by his Spokesman, Mr. Samuel Aruwan to present the money said he was donating it to help with immediate needs since Mr. Olokpo was the bread winner of the family.
Aruwan said, “I am here on behalf of His Excellency, the governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai and the government over the unfortunate attack on Mr. Emmanuel Francis.”
“Government is deeply concerned about it and presently collaborating with the security agencies in trailing those responsible and to bring them to book as directed by the governor. “The Governor delegated me to present to your family a financial assistance in view of Emmanuel’s situation and the trauma it caused your family. The Kaduna State Government commends your family for ot just your patience and zest for peace in our state but the country at large. We are earnestly praying for his recovery and working assiduously for peace and harmony in the state.
“I also want to reaffirm the Kaduna State Government’s commitment to the security of lives and properties of all citizens. Our doors are wide open for engagement with the citizens on whose behalf government is holding trust for.”
“ Citizens should alert security agencies of any breach instead of taking laws into their hands, government and security agencies would not spare any one found wanting,” he said.
