The staff of Eko Electricity Distribution Company in the Onike and Iwaya area of Lagos have entrenched unwholesome practices to fleece unsuspecting members of the community of their hard earned money.
Instead of dedicating themselves to service, agents of EEDC instead gravitate towards money making schemes including depriving consumers of their hard earned money.
Just two weeks ago, one of the regular power problems in the community struck, this issue involves a scenario where some consumers will have light and others will not have.
The EEDC officials refuse to react to the problem until a consumer comes to report it. Once this occurs, instead of going to fix the problem like they are paid to do, they resort to cheap blackmail and extortion, refusing to fix the problem until a mobilization fee is paid to them.
They collect various sums from N2000 to N10000, depending on the pocket and ignorance of the consumer concerning their actual responsibilities.
Most of the EEDC employees that engage in this practice will usually say the money is needed for transport and materials. They go on to besmirch their employers by saying such materials have not been provided for them.
Only last week two of these unscrupulous EEDC staff approached me to solve the problem (which suspiciously but luckily for them seems to happen every so often to keep their pockets lined with ill-gotten wealth). What the two pigs did not know was that another dedicated team member had been summoned by a Vulcanizer and was already fixing the problem free of charge. Unfortunately such team members are few and far between in the Onike and Iwaya area.
Residents of the community will like to prevail upon the management of Eko Electricity Distribution Company to stop their agents from these shady and illegal practices. Also management should caution marketers who are refusing to read meters before billing but instead giving arbitrary bills in order to meet the sky high targets set for them by management.
Eko Electricity Distribution Company Please Change!!!
Give the residents whom you serve, the service they deserve and weed out the bad agents that will tarnish whatever goodwill you may hope to have amongst your clients, because for now there is no difference between PHCN and EEDC. In fact problem has simply changed name.
