A 24-year-old man, Ajewole Dada Fulani, caused chaos within the premises of the Ekiti State High Court on Friday after he stabbed himself for being handed life imprisonment.
The accused had been charged with robbing, kidnapping and raping two female students of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti.
Ajewole committed the offence on November 7, 2015, on Ikere-Igbara Odo Road, the court heard.
But after the judgement was interpreted to him by the court registrar, the convict reportedly became emotional and broke the court’s louvres with his bare hands before stabbing himself.
He was in the process of stabbing other people in the courtroom with the louvres before he was restrained by security personnel.
The convict was thereafter bundled into a waiting Black Maria and whisked away.
