Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has said President Muhammadu Buhari will not be welcomed in the state on July 10 as requested in a letter from the presidency.
He accused the Federal Government under President Buhari of neglecting Ekiti, adding that not as much as a 100-metre road had been constructed in the state since 2015 when Buhari was elected.
The governor made the declaration at a campaign rally of his deputy and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the July 14 gubernatorial election, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka.
He expressed confidence’s in Eleka’s chances of winning the election, saying the All Progressives Congress (APC) would be put to shame.
Fayose said, “I am not going to receive the president. If they think that they can use the police to intimidate us, it is a lie.
“This government is undemocratic, why did they close Akure Airport yesterday, when they knew that we would be receiving our party members.
“They have been arresting members of the PDP, but we will not be provoked. We will disgrace all of them on July 14.
“If you vote for the APC, you are voting for Boko Haram and Fulani Herdsmen. But PDP believes in the sanctity of human lives.”
