Despite his penultimate Friday shooting, former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele has been appointed as the Campaign Director General by the Ekiti State All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the July 14 gubernatorial election in the state.
Bamidele is presently undergoing “post-surgery management” in a London hospital after a riot policeman shot him and five others at a welcome rally organised for the APC gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi on June 1.
Chairmen of the campaign team are: Otunba Niyi Adebayo (Finance), Femi Bamisile (Mobilisation), Mrs Bisi Fayemi (Women), Mrs. Wunmi Ogunlola (Welfare and Protocol), Biodun Fasakin (Legal), Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun (media), Mr Alaba Abejide (Contact), Dr Bayo Orire (Health), Femi Ogundare (Youth), Group Capt. Ropo Ayegbusi (Security) and Chief Awe (Special Purpose).
At the campaign team’s inauguration, Fayemi said he retained Bamidele to lead the campaign as he had already accepted to do so before the shooting incident.
The campaign team is different from the one inaugurated by the national APC which is headed by the Kebbi State Governor, Alh. Atiku Bagudu.
