EKITI 2018: If APC wins 1 LGA, I will concede defeat – Fayose

3 Min Read

The Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose has said he would concede defeat in the 2018 governorship election if the All Progressives Congress (APC) wins a single local government.

He said this while speaking on People, Politics and Power, a programme on AIT.

Fayose said Fayemi was free to contest the in the election if he wants.

“If Fayemi feels like coming back, it is a legitimate decision, let him do that by first getting the ticket of his political party,” he said.

“But if APC wins one local government in Ekiti, come 2018, I will concede that election.

“Today, they control the army, they control the police, they have the DSS, they have power, but democracy has gone beyond powers that be, and besides this is Ekiti, where I have the people. The people of Ekiti love me to death. They love me so much, I don’t know how I managed to gain their love and confidence… if not for the constitution, I will spend 10 tenures.

“They will meet me in Ekiti… Nobody can stop me because my name is Peter, the rock, you hit me, you are in trouble, I hit you, you are in trouble.”

Fayose added that he was ready to face the Federal Government while boasting that he defeated two incumbent governors.

“I am the first Nigerian politician to defeat two incumbent governors at two different attempts. I am their master. I am going to be facing the whole machinery of the federal government, and I am fully prepared. They should forget about hijacking Ekiti. It’s shameful for the federal government to be taking states,” he said.

“I am the longest serving Nigerian governor. I served under Obasanjo, as powerful as Obasanjo was, I served there.

“They took me out and I came back. The day I met Obasanjo at the villa during my first meeting at the council chambers, I walked up to Obasanjo and said, ‘Baba, I have come back, maybe you are not aware’.

“All I am saying is that Ekiti is not Ondo, I am fully ready. I am a street boy. I am streetwise to the core. I don’t have another business outside politics, so I am ready… If you leave your clothe for a mad man, he will rub it on the ground, so, I won’t leave this one for Fayemi.”
