As Muslims celebrate Eid-el Maulud, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has enjoined Muslims to emulate Prophet Mohammed in their character and conduct.
He stated this in a Thursday statement through his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Turaki Hassan.
The speaker specifically urged Muslims in the country to imbibe the spirit of humility, gratitude and charity to others, which characterised the life of the holy Prophet.
“Let me use this occasion to call on us all to reappraise our commitment to the unity and progress of the country as entrenched by our forefathers,” he stated.
“On our part as Lawmakers, we shall continue to come up with legislative intervention that will guarantee a virile and united nation,” the statement read.
Also, he charged Muslims to always exercise patriotism and be prepared to give their all in the interest of the country.
Eid-el-Maulud is a day set aside to commemorate the birth of Prophet Mohammed.
