The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has deployed no fewer than 900 personnel to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration in Sokoto State.
Mr Muhammad Dada, the NSCDC Commandant, Sokoto Command, gave the figure while addressing newsmen in Sokoto on Thursday.
According to him, the command has out of the figure deployed 100 personnel to the Sultan Palace to be able to control the huge crowd during the festive period.
“Sokoto is a peaceful state which has a record of peaceful celebration, as such we should maintain our status.
“We want to assure the people that with their cooperation, the security agencies in the state will continue to maintain the current peaceful coexistence across the state.
“For the Eid-el-Fitr celebration, we have mandated 15 operational vehicles to patrol the roads across the state,” he said.
Dada appealed to the people of the state to continue to report to security agencies any strange activities in their domains.

“This is in order to pursue our collective mandate of maintaining peace and order within the society,” he added. (NAN)
