Bassem Wahba, an Egyptian lawyer, has launched a 1 billion euro (app. N419 billion) lawsuit against Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos for injuring Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah in Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final.
Ramos had in the 26th minute of the game landed with his full body weight on the Egyptian’s arm, causing him a ligament fracture.
A tearful Salah was substituted in the 31st minute of the game, after which Real Madrid went on to dominate and clinch their 13th UCL trophy with a 3-1 victory in Kiev.
While many had feared that the injury to Salah would prevent him from representing his nation at the FIFA World Cup, the 25-year-old had on Sunday come out to say he was confident he would be in Russia for the tournament.
But despite this assurance, Wahba launched the lawsuit and announced it on Egyptian television channel Sada El-Balad.
He said, “Ramos intentionally injured Mo Salah and should be punished about his actions.
“I’ve filed a lawsuit and a complaint to FIFA.
“I’ll ask for compensation, which could exceed €1 billion, for the physical and psychological harm that Ramos gave Salah and the Egyptian people.”
