Rear Admiral Ameachina Alison-Madueke, husband of the embattled former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke who was yesterday picked up and interrogated by the Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in connection with the ongoing investigations into the activities of his wife, the former minister has been restricted from traveling outside the shores of the country as the EFCC confiscated his travel documents pending the conclusion of investigations.
The EFCC was reported to have picked up about two other business associates of the former minister, also for related interrogation on the investigation.
Recall that the United Kingdom National Crime Agency, NCA, has arrested and interrogated the former minister and four others on October 2, 2015 for alleged money laundering, Bribery and Corruption.
Sources confirm that the former militant Governor of Imo state was also interrogated in connection with the alleged money laundering accusation following the screening of his accounts.
A source in the commission who claimed the extensive nature of the investigations into the former minister was in line and as a result of the sector she managed as a minister said: “We have interrogated Rear Admiral Alison-Madueke as part of the ongoing probe of his wife, who is the immediate past Minister of Petroleum Resources.
“After interacting with him, he was granted administrative bail. But all his travelling documents are with us. Therefore, his movement has been restricted to the country pending the conclusion of this investigation. Certainly, we will still have another round of interaction with Madueke any moment from now.”
Another source added: “Based on intelligence sharing with investigators in the UK, we interacted with Madueke and some business associates of the ex-Minister.
“We will release the details as may be necessary for public consumption because this investigation cuts across some countries.”
